Oklahoma Consumers Have Health Insurance Options For ACA 2022 Plans Local News

By on October 8, 2021 0

The Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID) announced this week which health insurance companies will offer plans in the Oklahoma Affordable Care Act (ACA) market for 2022.

Two new insurers will join the market next year, giving Oklahoma consumers more health insurance options. Starting this year, consumers will also have an additional 30 days to make plan choices during the ACA open enrollment period for individual health plans from November 1, 2021 to January 15, 2022.

“I am excited to offer more options to Oklahoma consumers who do not have health insurance through their employer, Medicare or Medicaid,” said the Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, Glen Mulready. “Oklahoma only had two plan options when I was first elected, and now we will have eight options in 2022. I firmly believe in the free market and that competition cuts costs and encourages innovation. and efficiency This news is a clear indicator of a more stable and competitive market and illustrates the work we are doing at OID to encourage new businesses to bring more products to all Oklahomans.

The same six insurers that offered individual health plans in the 2021 market will return in 2022 – Blue Cross Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), Bright Health, Medica Insurance Company, Oscar Health, UnitedHealthCare (UHC), and CommunityCare Oklahoma (CCOK).

In 2022, Centene / Celtic DBA Ambetter in Oklahoma and Friday Health Plans will join the six existing carriers. BCBSOK and Medica offer statewide plans, while the others are in select areas of Oklahoma.

Plan options, monthly premium and total annual reimbursable fees for 2022 will be posted on www.healthcare.gov/see-plans/ later this month when this information was released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
