Registration deadline for ACA Health Insurance Marketplace approaches
CHICAGO (WMBD) – Those looking to enroll in a health care plan with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) health insurance market have until August 15 to do so.
On Sunday, the 2021 special registration period is expected to end, which means it’s the last day to be covered. Illinois Department of Insurance Acting Director Dana Popish Severinghaus urged eligible Illinois residents to sign up for a plan before the deadline.
“If you need health insurance, there is still time to find an affordable health plan in the ACA market,” said Popish Severinghaus. “More than 2.5 million people across the country have already purchased health coverage during this special enrollment period. “
In addition, those who buy health insurance directly from the ACA marketplace at health care.gov Where getcoveredillinois.gov can take advantage of the US bailout, which was signed by President Biden earlier this year, and save money. Anyone currently on a plan can update their requests to check for additional savings.
“The increase in tax credits the American rescue plan can help eligible Illinois residents lower their health insurance premiums and personal expenses, ”said Laura Pellikan, executive director of Get Covered Illinois. “Federal CMS data shows that returning consumers can save an average of 40% on monthly insurance premiums for ACA Marketplace plans after enhanced tax credits. ”
Pellikan said those interested can visit www.getcoveredillinois.gov for free registration assistance and to find out if they are eligible for financial assistance.
